Niwot High School Attendance Policy
Ensuring a positive learning environment through consistent attendance.
Here’s a summary of Niwot High School’s attendance policies. We appreciate your cooperation in ensuring students arrive promptly to all classes each day!
Reporting Absences & Tardies
It’s **crucial to report all student absences within 48 hours** of the missed day(s). If not reported, the absence will be marked as **unexcused** per SVVSD policy.
How to Report:
- Preferred: Email [email protected]. This helps prevent connection issues and voicemail clarity problems; emails are checked continuously.
- Alternatively: Call the attendance line at 720-494-3931.
Information to Include: When leaving a message or sending an email, please **state and spell your student’s name**, provide the **reason** for their absence/tardy, and specify the **date(s)** that need to be excused.
***When excusing your student for “being late“, please give an ETA and remind your student to check in at the front desk when they arrive.
Early Dismissals
If your student needs to leave school early, please **notify the school a few hours in advance**. This gives the staff enough time to send a pass to your student’s classroom.
You **do not need to come to the school** to sign them out or back in; an email or call from a parent/guardian is sufficient for excusal. The school verifies that the email address and phone number belong to a parent/guardian.
Students are not permitted to call themselves in.
Prearranged Absences
For students who will be missing **3 or more days** of school, a **Prearranged Absence Form** is required.
Your student can pick up this form in the front office.
Mistaken Absences/Tardies
If you believe your student was incorrectly marked absent or tardy for a class, you **must email that specific teacher directly**, not the main office.
The teacher will then notify the office if any changes need to be made.
