NHS students head “Into the Woods”

This November join Niwot High School Music and Theater Departments as we present the popular Sondheim musical, Into the Woods.  The timeless classic tells the story of a Baker and his wife who wish to have a child, Cinderella who wishes to attend the King’s Festival, and Jack who wishes his cow would give milk.  When the Baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a Witch’s curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse.  Everyone’s wish is granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later with disastrous results.
“I think this production will be different than others you may have seen, in that we really focus on the parallel of sometimes life is a perfect fairytale and sometimes we have to deal with giants, but through it all we keep going, hopefully keeping our sense of humor, ” says director Erin Anderson.   “This show acutally has a lot of funny moments that are usually lost on other productions.  I think our show uses those comedic moments to help keep the action moving forward.”
This production is particularly metaphoric of going into the woods, as the cast embarks on a journey to compete in the Bobby G Awards.  The amazing program, sponsored by the Denver Center for the Arts, is our state’s equivalent of the Tony Awards for High School Students.  The honor of being a part of the awards is only offered to 40 schools across the state and Niwot is proud to be one of them.

Come and support this amazing talent!  Shows are November 10th, 11th, and 12th at 7:00 PM and a matinee performance on November 13th at 2:00 PM.  Tickets can be purchased at the door or by calling 303-652-2550.  Ticket cost is $15 for adults and $12 for students and seniors.
