State CMAS Testing

Students in Grade 12 across the state of Colorado will be taking the Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS) Social Studies and Science assessments during the November 3-November 21 state window.  At Niwot High School, we are minimalizing the impact on academics by testing students only one block per day on November 3, 4, 6, 11, 12, 13.  There are three 55-minute sections for each test.  Students will take one test per day, a different block each test day.

Facts and Information abour the CMAS Assessments:

  • Per Colorado Law [22-7-409(1.2)(d)(l)(A)] every student enrolled in a public school is required to take the state assessments.  All students in the state of Colorado take the same assessments.
  • Based on Colorado’s updated standards, the new assessment will provide information about how your child is performing compared to his/her peers.
  • These new tests measure performance against higher expectations.
  • The new tests measure deeper learning and critical thinking skills.
