“Courage is not the absence of fear but rather the assessment that something else is more important than fear.” — Franklin D. Roosevelt
As a school counselor, I seek to help all students in their journey as they navigate life's moments of bliss, hardship, and the quiet contemplative times in between. High school will challenge students to push themselves, be it with their academics, social groups, sports, the arts, and figuring out what they stand for. As they continue to try new things, they will learn more about themselves - their strengths, areas of growth, their likes, their dislikes, and their values. Through their courage of facing and overcoming struggle they will leave our doors with a newfound sense of pride, accomplishment, and confidence - a confidence that they can do hard things. This confidence will be with them as they continue forward spreading their wings and giving themselves the chance to go after their goals and dreams.
The IB learner profile outlines the following character traits that Niwot is committed to helping our students develop into: inquirers, knowledgeable, thinkers, communivators, reflective, open-minded, caring, risk-takers, balanced, and principled. In this pursuit, we hope our students will contribute in making the world a better place.
I believe we all have something smoldering in our hearts and that calls to us. I hope for everyone that I work with, that they continue to nurture the flame that ignites their soul. I am very grateful for my position at Niwot High School and to get to work with a phenomenal team. We care about your students and look forward to working with you!
