IB Music Theory

This class is a study of the fundamentals of music. It breaks down the parts of music from the basics of music notation, scales, tonality, keys, counterpoint, transitions, and the history behind them. In addition students can expect to: learn the common procedure used in analysis and composition. The study of music theory interacts with you musical intuition—honing, sharpening, and enhancing it with insights and perception. It is expected that you not simply memorize terms—that you go one step further and make these terms and ideas a familiar part of your entire approach to music. This class is also open to non-IB students with instructor approval.
