NPIB Enrollment

We look forward to welcoming the new NPIB cohort and future NHS IB Class of 2024 to our Cougar Nation!

NPIB/IB DP informational meeting was held at Niwot High School on November 12, 2019 for all eighth grade students interested in joining the Niwot Pre-IB (NPIB) course sequence during the 2020-2021 academic school year.

NPIB/Honors courses at Niwot High School are typically undertaken by students who earned grades of A or B in their middle school courses and plan on taking the advanced course pathways during the 11th and 12th grades. These advanced pathways at Niwot High School may include: the IB DP and or any combination of AP (Advanced Placement) and or IB courses, all of which are elective and not required to fulfill high school graduation requirenments. End of the year externally assessed exams and the associated exam fees apply.

Eighth grade students interested in joining the Niwot Pre-IB (NPIB) course sequence during the 2020-2021 academic school year were expected to complete and submit this electronic NPIB Intent to Enroll Form to initiate the NPIB Enrollment process. The due date to complete the electronic NPIB Enrollment Form for the 2020-2021 academic school year passed on December 16, 2019. Forms submitted after that date will be processed and considered on a rolling admission basis.

Students and families interested in attending Niwot High School while residing outside of the Niwot High School's attendance area must complete the Open Enrollment Application. More information regarding Open Enrollment can be found on the NHS website under the Open Enrollment section of the About page (first tab on the left).

Eighth grade students who completed and submited the electronic NPIB Enrollment Form to initiate the NPIB Enrollment process can expect to receive a confirmation email from the NHS IB Coordinator no later than January 27th, 2020. To provide the incoming students with the best transition from middle school to high school, NHS uses the following three categories to communicate the suitability of the NPIB based on the review of the available academic records:

  • NPIB course sequence enrollment recommended
  • NPIB course sequence enrollment recommended with reservation
  • NPIB course sequence enrollment not recommended

Students who were unable to attend the above mentioned NPIB/IB DP informational meeting on November 12th should carefully review all of the information from that meeting, which is posted below before accessing the above linked NPIB Enrollment Form and before submitting the electronic NPIB Enrollment Form. NPIB Enrollment Forms submitted after December 16, 2019 will be considered on a first come first served basis and outside of the regular registration timeline.

Prospective NPIB students currently not attending any of the SVVSD middle schools are required to physically submit their academic records (including middle school transcript, attendance records, standardized test scores) to be considered for the NPIB Enrollment.
